Winter Watcher - Algonquin Pine Marten

A few years back, while walking along the Spruce Bog Trail in Algonquin Park, we suddenly sensed that familiar feeling of being watched. Looking up, we spotted a Pine Marten peering down at us from the branches. I managed to capture a few photos and filed them away for later. While sorting through my images recently, I came across this one again and adjusted the lighting and background to give the scene more depth and contrast. Pine Martens are known for being shy and elusive, and this one certainly lived up to that reputation — but I’m glad she stayed just long enough for us to enjoy the encounter.
